Little Kim - Moederland
With her solo debut album “Moederland” Little Kim brings a collection of stunning songs described by experts as “Flandricana” or “Country sculpted from Flemish clay”. The title track and key song of the album is an adaptation of the song by Nathalie Merchant, translated by Lieven Tavernier.
Kimberly Claeys a.k.a. Little Kim, has been following her musical path for 20 years and has been part of numerous projects and bands. Her career clearly took shape from 2008 when she started touring through Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany for more than 10 years with the Western Swing band Little Kim and The Alley Apple 3. Their albums (including “Sugarbird”, “The Longest Mile” and “The Devil”) always received ample attention on Radio 1 and Radio 2, among others.
Through this music band and musical taste, the link/friendship with Guido Belcanto also arose, of whom she has been a loyal guest singer for more than 10 years at countless concerts in Flanders and can be heard on several of his albums.
She has also been the new singer with folk legend Kadril since 2019. Corona has certainly not taken away any of their strength and they too will release a brand new album this fall. At Kadril she experienced that performing songs in your native language can be very beautiful and intimate, which directly led to the choice to debut as Little Kim solo with a Dutch-language album.
Country, Folk, Roots, Americana… call it “Flandricana” or “Country sculpted from Flemish clay” perhaps. On “Moederland” Little Kim brings Dutch songs written/interpreted by Guido Belcanto, Bruno Deneckere and Lieven Tavernier, produced by Guido Belcanto @ Studio Caporal at Nicolas Rombouts with “Het Broederschap” as accompanists, Belcanto’s regular band.
Preceded by several singles, the album “Moederland” will be released on October 14, 2022. First single “Laura”: a catchy ode to daughters and mothers, did quite well on various radio stations. Successor “De Tweede Kus” is already out.
